We have made a few trips (by car) to northwestern Idaho (trump country – gasp) to our cabin near Sandpoint, Idaho and pretty dang close to Canada. When we’re there, it’s just we two – no politics, no Covid – just peace and quiet. Go to Maine, Rick! I grew up there and it’s beautiful. NH is nice too. I’m very fortunate to have lived in both New England and the Pacific Northwest.
- Always love to see colors, grew up in Northeast , but live in CarsonCity , NV. Though not quite as striking as East , 2-3 hrs south along Eastern Sierra the golden colors if the aspens in Mono County , CA are very nice
- Luckily my local area included “old” Hampshire so I made my first ever visit yesterday to Odiham Castle where King John saddled up and rode to Runnymede in June 1215 to put his seal on Magna Carta. Because I’m not able to travel further afield, I’ve found so much history and beauty in my local area which I was never really aware of.
- Took a tour through the Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail, and the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum near Ridgedale, MO (about 45 minutes from where I live). First time going there, and it was beautiful!
Switzerland was canceled for us this year, so we explored the mountains of south eastern Kentucky and enjoyed the view and very friendly people we met on the way. (Chained Rock on Pine Mountain ) I ride the rail trails on my bike and always appreciate the season- whatever it is. There is history, nature, and people out enjoying themselves. What’s not there – stress, close contact or politics!
