Virtual education is not conducive for working parents with young children. My 13 year old has struggled but has held her own but my 5 year old, forget it. It is nearly impossible for two essential parents to come home from long days at work and then have to teach their children at 6 or 7 pm, then throw in baths and let’s not forget they have to eat.

  • I don’t know what the future holds for the next school year but with more and more parents returning to work, I don’t see virtual learning working for elementary age children. I am a teacher, and it broke me today as well. I miss everything about seeing my students and interacting with them on a daily basis.
  • I need to see their expressions and their body language so that I know if they are really “getting it”. I have had enough of this, and I know that they have too.  I agree with everything you just said… our virtual journey ended Wednesday. It was rough. I am an 8th grade teacher with a graduate degree, my husband has a doctorate, our kids are high performers…we CRAWLED to the finish line.
  • We are in person people. As a veteran teacher of 25 years… ME TOO!!!! Today was our last day. Hang in there… and do the best you can!! Your love and work and willingness to tough it out is a gift and memory your children will never forget! On behalf of teachers everywhere… THANK YOU for trying and giving it your best effort!!

So true!! Thank you for always sharing your experiences as it really helps!! I’m right there with you. I do not want a online learning environment for my children! I will have to consider other options if we can’t go back in some capacity in the fall…

I absolutely hope “virtual school” is not the model anyone is moving toward. Kids and teachers alike need the social interaction and instant feedback/help that is to be found in REAL school. YES to all of this! My kindergartener was not a huge fan of virtual learning and neither was I! My fourth grader handled it like a boss, but both still thrive in the actual classroom! Last day was today for us
