At the beginning of the story of sailing, he shared that while studying at Saigon University of Law, he dreamed of designing a sailing boat to travel. Because through books and newspapers, he knows that abroad many people use 7-8m long yachts to travel around the world. Since then, he has been interested in finding and reading magazines specializing in sailing boats. In 1968, after completing the Faculty of Law, he joined the Water Sports Club. At the club, each member has a water jet boat on the Saigon River, and some members also buy a sailing boat. Membership at that time was mostly foreigners, most of them were Americans. From there he learned the art of sailing from foreign friends. The more you play, the more you learn, the more you get excited.
He said, those who want to become “followers” of sailing, the first thing the players (Yachtmen) need to have is the soul of the artist, full of wandering, easily vibrated by the beauty of nature, but also not afraid to face the challenge of storms. The bigger the waves and the wind, the more passionate the animals are, and the more they want to be challenged with their ability to dominate nature. Once the third wind was overpowered, and safely steered the boat to the shore, pride suddenly surged when the talent overcame the storm. It is an experience that only players can enjoy all the emotions.
