Not only helping coastal children to hone their survival skills, Ishita Malaviya also wants to change negative views on women’s surfing.
Ishita Malaviya (29 years old, from Mumbai) defies the objections of her parents and those around her to become the first female surfer in India.
She currently runs surf club Shaka Surf and a camp called Namaloha on the coast of Karnataka, India. In addition, she is also the image ambassador for surf fashion brand Roxy.

Malaviya’s journey has inspired so many women in India – who are already victims of gender discrimination – to fight and fulfill their dreams.
