When he was born, actor Steve McQueen loved women, cigarettes and speed…. That was Chad McQueen’s statement when he arrived at the Cannes Festival this past week, to showcase a new documentary about his father. Titled “The Man & Le Mans”, the film by two directors John McKenna and Gabriel Clarke, tells the glorious and darkest period of screen star Steve McQueen. As expected the film will be released in early November 2015 on the 35th anniversary of the American actor’s death.
To commemorate his father, Chad McQueen participated in the filmmaking project by providing personal films and family documents. The documentary revolves around the period when Steve McQueen was present in France in 1971 to shoot the film about the 24-hour city lap of Le Mans. What few people know is that at that time, Steve McQueen, despite being very successful in his career, was going through one of the most difficult moments in his private life.
