Current sloths are related to the ground sloth, an ancient sloth that has become extinct. They have no fangs, live on the ground, and are related to today’s sloths. Sloths have sharp nails that can stand upright with their hind legs. They are nearly 6 meters long and weigh 4 tons equal to the weight of an African elephant. Sloths are mammals, slow-moving and herbivorous. Its sharp claws allow it to cling to tree branches to eat.
The tree-living sloths are descendants of the mammal sloth, with a rather large body. When the terrestrial food was no longer in abundance, these ancient sloths began scouring the ocean in search of food. When food was scarce, the old sloths could dive into the ocean to nibble on the weeds in shallow water and then wade farther and deeper. However, sloths do not completely switch to marine habitat, but that is only a temporary solution when difficult.
