The adult shaft skeleton consists of 80 bones. It is made up of bones that form the longitudinal axis of the body, such as the head, neck, chest, and spine.
The adult skull consists of 22 bones. These bones may be further classified by location:
Skull. The eight skulls make up the bulk of the skull. They help protect the brain.
The facial bones. There are 14 facial bones. They are found in the front of the skull and make up the face.
The auditory bones are six small bones found in the inner ear canal of the skull. There are three auditory bones on each side of the head
