The Megalodon, as we know it, is a giant monster. Some of the teeth discovered from fossils of this large predator reach more than 17 cm (7 inches) in length, but most are 3 to 5 inches long (still large). Jaw reconstruction and fossils allow us to assume their maximum length would reach 54 feet (16.5 m), about three times that of the great white shark (C. carcharias ). When compared to each other, the T-rex tyrant was truly “underage”.
The wide distribution of fossils, in particular teeth, indicates that they are a species widely distributed in a wide variety of marine environments, warm and temperate shallow waters. The Megalodon sits on top of the food chain and eats large prey like Cetacean (the ancestor of whales and dolphins today).
