Recently, otters are defeating many competitors to become the “star” of the animal coffee model in Japan. Cute face, shiny fur and small body make wild animals become “pets” that many people love.
According to Aaron Gekoski, British environmentalist and photojournalist, life in cafes does more harm than good for animals, especially the Asian small-clawed otters.
Recently, during a trip to Japan, Gekoski in collaboration with the World Animal Protection Association discovered the horrible shadows behind the cuteness that customers often see. The young otters have been separated from the herd at a young age, locked in cages and subjected to an inappropriate environment.
