One of these crosses, between an English White Terrier and an English Bull Dog, produced a dog called Hooper’s Judge Judge weighing more than 13.5 kg. It was mated to a smaller female and one of the males was mated to a smaller female. Subsequent generations were mated with one or more French Bulldogs, creating the basis of the Boston Terrier breed.

They did not like the name of this species, “round head”. A short time later, the species was named the Boston Terrier after its homeland.
