When your a newbie, you have certain financial obligations that are gonna cost you a large amount of your dollars worth of attention. Just the basic controls are going to monopolize a good fifty or sixty cents of your dollars worth of attention. Manipulating the controls is not second nature yet so you’re gonna make mistakes. Some boys are just born with motorcycle in their souls poster. Like which lever is the fucking clutch again? Or DAMMIT! What gear am I in? I lost count in the downshift. Queue release of clutch lever in too low a gear resulting in unexpected lurch braking causing a skidding rear tire and an embarrassed new rider shifting his weight forward and kissing his windscreen with the visor of his helmet. This causes panic and thus more attention that you cannot afford to spend which snowballs into not enough attention being spent on the simple things, like putting your feet down, ultimately leading to you dumping your bike over in the middle of a busy intersection full of cars and pedestrians.
