I had a Samoyed…lots of ‘tuffs’ of fur but never knew I could create something out of them! Haha ….FYI they are wonderful, sweet, family dogs and I’d rather pick up ‘cotton balls’ than dog hair any day! my parents bred them when I was a kid. We had 13 at one point. Mum used to brush them, spin the fur and donate to local wool factory where they would treat it and mix it with sheep wool. Made a few hats that way. They are gorgeous dogs but very high maintenance.
I had a Sammy too: Max. I read about 2 friends on West coast, both had Sams. One saved hair from hers to knit sweater. When she finished she wore sweater to friends’ home. She removed it while they had coffee in kitchen. When she went to leave the Samoyed whose home it was had torn the swester to shreds! I never would.
when I brush her I get enough hair that I think it should be used for something She looses 2 lbs when she gets her summer haircut. I know a lady who combed her neighbors angora rabbit to knit her a hat. When she needed more fur, she would comb it again and again. It got so the nearly bald rabbit would run and hide whenever it saw her.
